FALL WINTER 2023
Fall 23 research/mood and fabric/color research boards.
Collection was inspired by 2000s grunge and metal subcultures, industrial aesthetics and grittiness can be felt through a lot of post apocalyptic movies and music references. While sweetness can also be seen through juvenile "I don't care" attitude, this season we focused on the dark, with emphasis put on complexity of adolescents experiencing emo phase.
Artwork inspiration research. This process allows the team to brainstorm and develop existing and innovative artwork executions with overseas suppliers, as well as using this document as starting point when communicating with collaborator on seasonal artworks. For Fall season I've looked for mainly early 2000s grunge futuristic print techniques as well as raw and gritty details such as spray painting, frayed patch appliques, and distressed washes.
Nylon bungee group was designed as aspirational pieces in the line. Lightweight nylon was chosen to embody the hard utilitarian look while allowing the garment to shift lightly to have the soft flirtiness. Bungee cordings adds to this by being able to reveal or cover up as one desire, even emphasizing body parts. Metallic cord was later replaced with traditional bungee cording, however on the top the metal buckle was kept on to further emphasize the industrial look.
This season I was tasked to create a line of products that took inspiration from the iconic kiki boots. I've taken the most prominent details such like the buckles and rows of oval cut outs, smooth and curvy silhouette, and hint of "unexpected" which I felt when first seeing the boots go down the runway for FW16.
Minimalistic cami top and mini skirt got the buckle details that goes across the body, which the detail aligns seamlessly once worn together.
The bag was created in clean egg shape silhouette which I've self- referenced a bag I've designed for Heaven SP21, and applied the buckle detail throughout the exterior edge almost creating wheel like appearance.
Satin finish material was chosen for all styles(including the boots), while reinforcing the bags with split leather to maintain the structure.
SPRING SUMMER 2023
Spring 23 research/mood board and initial sketches for the season.
Heavily inspired by grunge americana through films and music, a lot of the designs were given western detail combining with diy-like treatments.
Opened raglan seams finished with hand weaved and knotted self strap. Graphic printed with water base ink.
SP23 Denim shoulder bag design process overview. Inspiration came from combination of early 2000s open zipper detail and different vintage western denim treatments. Then the deconstructed denim pieces were patch-worked on Heaven nylon shoulder bag shape, to be developed and merchandised as a core item animation.
Chaps flare pants designed and developed for SP23 season. Deconstructed 5 pockets jeans were reassembled on flared pants to create the chaps like look. Belts on sides holds up the chaps panels that are partially attached to the self, which are adjustable with overall buckles and branded tack buttons. This style is an essential piece in this collection to help evoke modern western attitude and paired frequently throughout editorials.
